Living In An Imaginary World

We live in an imaginary world based on hype. The “most important” things seems manufactured. The generation that grew up on Mr. Rogers is now living in the land of make-believe and suffering the consequences. The economy is failing yet gas is the cheapest it has been in over a year. The dow hit a record single day jump after freefalling the last few days. Banks are using imaginary money. People are buying imaginary things using plastic promises. Credit scores and terrorist watch lists are more important than criminal histories.

In such a short time, we have put all our faith in the intangible. Perhaps it stems from how accustomed we are to dogmatic religion. What is the difference between the stock market and the church? Is the federal reserve any more a propagator of reality than the pope?

The only thing that is real is love. And just like love, if faith is given too easily, it can be taken away just as easily. So before you spend hours fretting over news about the newest presidential candidate scandal, the price of gas, or the failing economy; go hug you loved ones, call your parents, say high to your neighbor – reinforce a relationship that is real… because should this imaginary kingdom come crumbling these will be the only real thngs left.

On a lighter note, there is an SUV parked out front of the coffee shop with the lisence plate “P1RATE” – epic.
