Netscape Rebranding and the cries from the Peanut Gallery

Netscape Homepage

I thought I would post this because I have been biting my tongue a bit with all the FUD going on surrounding Netscape. My boss at Netscape Tom Drapeau, among being a great dad and all around cool dude, also seems to handling all the jibber jabber from the online peanut galleries with a cool head. He sent a message today that I think adaquately sums up the situation.

Can I just say before hand that, for so many people disregarding Netscape as a Digg Clone, they sure are generating a lot of hubbub about it over the last year. No news is bad news indeed.

Also, looking at a lot of the feedback on the official word from the Netscape Blog, it might be good to switch brands. AOL still controls a lot of things that also have the Netscape brand including the email and ISP which is a source for a lot of unmerited discontent. Anyway…

No press is bad press, right? Not to worry, we have a cool new domain name and logo just working its way through legal… should be released shortly. We’re NOT going away.

Happy Friday!
Tom
