Wait, LEGAL Aliens can’t vote either right?

I keep hearing the argument that if illegal aliens receive drivers licenses, they will be able to vote.

I don’t understand this argument. My good friend Jon immigrated to this country from Sweden when he was 5. He has been here legally since then. When he was old enough to drive, he was able to get a drivers license like “normal people”. While being as big of fan of Volvos and Swedish Fish (joke) as he is might be considered “unamerican”, that isn’t what prevents him from voting - rather it is laws already in place that have prevent him from voting.

So why can’t these laws prevent illegal aliens from voting? I’m not saying I necessarily support amnesty and such for illegal immigrants, but if you’re going to make an argument for important legislation, make a decent argument. On the other hand, I have not heard any supporters make this argument either. Maybe I am the only person with a LEGAL alien friend, but it is probably more of a selective memory type issue.
